THe consort of Shiva & slayer of demons, Kali is the dark mother.
Her name is derived from the word Kala, which means "black, dark coloured" as well as "appointed time". She is the origin & the destroyer of space / time. Her devotees break free from karma brought on through the cycle of life and death. Kali is the destroyer of the ego. Tantriks worship Kali to achieve siddhis.
Kali assumes many forms. The reciting of her many names , with correct shruti, is very powerful.
